IGA supermarket commissions CRS' first transcritical CO2 system in Australia

South Africa-based Commercial Refrigeration Services (CRS) has commissioned its first transcritical CO2 system in Australia. In co-operation with local contractor MB Refrigeration, the system was installed in an IGA supermarket in Melbourne in February 2018.

The system employs the use of parallel compression, heat reclaim for space heating, and is the first application of Emerson's Copeland transcritical CO2 compressors in Australia. CRS and MB refrigeration say more transcritical CO2 systems are on the way and are expected to be commissioned before the end of this year.
